Fan noise for sleeping

Millions of people can't sleep without a fan running — not for the breeze, but for the sound. Fan noise is a steady, broadband whir with a soft low hum, familiar and consistent. Press play to start it without touching the thermostat.

Why fan sounds help you sleep

A fan blends a smooth rush of air with a gentle motor hum, creating a constant wall of sound that masks creaks, voices, and traffic. Because it's so familiar, many people find it instantly relaxing — the sound itself has become a cue for sleep.

Keep the sound, lose the draft

Sometimes you want the whir but not a cold room, a noisy old motor, or extra electricity overnight. Mynded recreates the fan sound on its own, so you get the masking and the comfort without the breeze — handy when travelling, too.

Steady fan noise with a sleep timer

The fan tone is generated live, so it stays even and never loops. Set the volume to match your usual fan and add a fade-out timer in the app so it eases off once you're asleep.

Mix it, time it, sleep to it

In the Mynded app you can layer soundscapes, set a fade-out sleep timer, and add AI sleep stories and guided wind-downs — all shaped around how you feel tonight.

Common questions

Can fan noise replace a real fan for sleep?

If you sleep with a fan mainly for the sound, yes — this gives you the same steady whir without the draft, the motor, or the energy use. If you need the airflow for temperature, you'll still want the real thing.

Is fan noise a type of white noise?

It's close. Fan noise is broadband like white noise but softened, with a low hum from the motor, which makes it a little warmer and more familiar.

Will it loop overnight?

No. Mynded synthesises the fan sound continuously, so there's no repeating clip, and you can set a sleep timer to fade it out.
